5 really easy and cool art projects for kids

Hey! It’s day 3 of easy art projects, and we are diving into spray-painted t-shirts. We actually spray painted a cami top, but this can pretty much be done on anything, including pants or your pillow case or the wall or the car! Yay!

Now, not all of you will want to let your kids use spray paint. If you are okay with it, just make sure you are using it outside, you aren’t standing upwind from the paint, and you wear a dust mask.

Spray Paint t-shirts are fun because they are really quick to make, and you get the feeling that you are a cool street artist when you are making them. But you’re not breaking the law with shirts! And you get to wear them! Double win.

Materials:

  • Spray paint (We used Rustoleum Paint Plus satin paints in the colors Eden and Aqua)
  • Shirt
  • Doily

Directions:

All you need to do is put a piece of cardboard inside your shirt (to protect from bleed-through), lay your shirt in the grass or on a surface you don’t mind getting paint on.

Whenever you paint on a shirt, it’s a good idea to wash it first to remove any sizing. After it’s dried, iron it flat so you have a smooth printing surface.

Grab the most lovely doily you can find, and lay it wherever you want it on your shirt. We didn’t secure it down with anything.

Spray the top half with the 1st paint color, and the bottom half with the 2nd paint color.

Let it dry. Wash it. Wear it.

I’m not going to say easy peasy again, but I kind of said it, so there you go.
