20 So Cool Crafts for Teens (Okay, and Tweens)

Crafts for teens and teen diy

It seemed like when I was young, there weren’t really any cool crafts for teens. I mean, I honestly don’t remember doing any. I mean, I can’t get the images of weird 70’s projects out of my head: masking tape all over jars that we then smeared shoe polish on, candle wax poured in sand holes to make earthy candles, it’s all too much to mentally revisit.

Today’s teens are obviously much more cool, creative, and savvy than we were. Lucky dorks. Here are 20 crafts for teens for them (you) -all of us- to ogle over and hopefully then make.

20 really cool crafts for teens. And maybe a few for the tweens, too :)

What a fun paper bag journal/sketchbook/scrapbook. You could do SO MUCH with this. Drool.

Decorated envelopes. What would your friends even do if they got snail mail from you, and it was this awesome?

Felt embroidered coffee cup cozies are a must-have for anyone who wants to be the coolest person at Starbucks.

Stunning origami Swallow. (The link takes you to some easier origami options as well.)

Pretty little pearl hairpins. Is it just me, or do you also want to wear like a hundred of these in your hair every day?

DIY oatmeal honey face scrub. Oatmeal and honey are classic natural skin beautifiers, and you can see how far you can stick your tongue out to taste your face.

20 cool ideas for crafts for teens. I want to make these!

These tissue lanterns look like the type of craft it would be hard to stop making. (Hello, gift idea!)

Crisscross ribbon lampshade. Lampshades are boring otherwise.

Total geeky coolness. Make your own morse code bracelets. I recommend you make them say “I Love Craftwhack”.

Gorgeous and simple paper mache bowls. I’m simply lovin’ the stitched detail at the top.

Leaf print pillow covers. Sweet!

Yarn-wrapped twiggies. These are cheery in a jar, OR you could poke people in the ribs with them.

Darlin’ stencil-topped stool. I made this and my 12 year old nabbed it, so that’s how I know it’s tween/teen-worthy.

Cute little painted pouches. Because you can never have to many pouches. AM I RIGHT, LADIES?

Geometric wall photo display – I’m in love with this, and I’m also in love with the bright hallway.

Try out some basic hand lettering. (Even I managed to do this.)

Nail polish marbelized mugs – aren’t these dreamy?

Twisted headband from an old t-shirt – this one takes some sewing, but it’s very basic, and you could hand-stitch it if you don’t have a machine.
