Things You Need to Buy Yourself to Get Through the Holidays

One of my most favorite companies, Uncommon Goods, partnered with me on a sponsored post this holiday season, and I’m so excited to share their stuff with you!

I’m a big fan of buying Christmas gifts for loved ones and all that, but it is FAR more fun to buy things for myself all throughout December. This is the way I ensure that I don’t end up hyperventilating into a wrapping paper tube long about this time of the month when I realize I have purchased zero gifts for anyone else. Ironic, huh?

One of my very very very very favorite online places to shop is Uncommon Goods, because they’re all committed to good things like supporting artists and artisans, sustainability, and they sell super-cool, unique things you won’t find elsewhere. Here’s more good stuff, which basically makes them the Mother Theresa of catalog businesses.

Anyway, back to me. I decided to browse through their guide to gifts for lady friends, because I am my own best lady friend, and I knew I’d find good things there. And I did. You will be needing these:

eye stones

These are not donuts designed to send you immediately to the dentist. These are Orbits Eye Stones, and I need them for my puffy, allergic, haggard old peepers that stare at computers for far too long.

Wine pearls - keep the old vino chilly

WINE PEARLS! These bad boys linger in your glass of vino and keep it all chilly perfection so you don’t have to resort to the trashy practice of throwing ice cubes in your glass. Perfection.

essential oil bracelet

This essential oil bracelet needs to find its way around my wrist, pronto. I need to soak it in Frankincense and basically hold it under my nose to huff all day long. Will I look creepy? Yes. Is Frankincense the most wonderful EO on earth? Yes.

Moving on to their picks for gifts for friends, and oooooh, Nelly, there are some good ideas for me to buy myself. Are you starting to get into the groove of buying everything for yourself yet?

green tea and herb mixing kit

Holy crap do I need this kit, and in fact may have just ordered it for myself. Anybody who likes green tea will want to play around with mixing up their own green tea and herb concoctions. I can’t believe how awesome this kit is- I’ve actually been looking for just this thing for years! I just noticed it’s backordered until February, but they also have a Chai tea kit for you crazy Chai lovers.

Perusing the list of ideas for teenagers landed me right smack dab on this gem:

Game of Phones - hilarious smart phone game

Game of Phones! I need this card game, and I need to figure out how to hold a live webinar or Facebook live or something so we can all play it together online. It looks hilariously fun. Or hilariously fone. That was a stretch, but I felt the need to try to work a pun in there somehow.

I moved onto their gift ideas for teens, because I never really emotionally evolved past 14 years old, and boy was I rewarded.

cedar thumb pianos

You can play tiny pianos with your thumbs! Oh my god! Why do I love these so much? I’m literally Christmas shopping as I’m writing this post. My daughter is getting one of these.

Shakespearean Insults poster! So funny

Who wouldn’t want a handy poster with Shaespearean insults? – because there is nothing better in this world than answering the phone, finding out it’s a sales call, and calling that person a frothy dizzy-eyed horn-beast.

If you haven’t snapped up everything I featured here, and are still looking for ideas, Uncommon Goods has a new li’l elephanty fella who will help you choose gifts based on some magical algorithms. All you have to do is plug in who you’re shopping for (you) and what they (you) like.

So just make sure you buy as many presents for yourself as everybody else on your list. Match it dollar for dollar, and leave extra time to wrap your stuff up all pretty-like.

Awesome gifts to buy yourself to get through the holidays :)
