Cool Blurb books

Christian gave me this book long ago. I think maybe 2 years ago, even. It lives on our bookshelf, and it’s one of the few books I pick up and flip through regularly. And then I laugh and laugh until I wee. The best part about this is that it’s a book of our texts back and forth that he had turned into a photo book, and I love it every bit as much as the photo books we have.

Texts turned into a book - cool gift idea

Actually, we don’t have any photo books, but I intend to remedy that this summer.

The problem with me (the only problem) is that I have reached a horrible spot in life and in family where we have so many thousands of photos clogging up our computers and clouds and hard drives that I don’t even know where to start. I picture a shelf full of beautiful, white-spined books, documenting our family moments, organized by year or two. And then I start to fret that I’ll miss a particular photo that belonged in one book, and I couldn’t possibly put it in a later book because IT WASN’T TAKEN THEN.

So I came up with a solution: I will create some books this summer, based on random moments from past few years, and I won’t worry about rigidly compiling them by year. How bad-ass is that!?

I just think about those chemicals that start flowing when you look through a photo book, and I want to create several opportunities for that feeling that are just there for the taking on our shelves.

Something else cool that I discovered when I was perusing the Blurb site is that it’s easy to make a little book from Your Instagram shots.

I also discovered that OMG you can make and sell your books through Amazon. This deserves a ZOMG! Plus, they offer a Book Camp. This is totally my sort of camp. Break out the marshmallows and watch videos on how to make books. I’m so excited about Blurb- I mean a little too excited. I feel like I’m not going to be able to stop making books of all types. Anyway, you’ll see them when I make them.

Have you used them? Have you tried another company? I know Shutterfly and some others offer photo books, but I’m loving the quality of our one Blurb book.

Here are some books sold on the Blurb site that will make you happy to be in a world full of such talent. (Click to go check out the insides of each book.):

I can’t say how much I love this. I think I might have to do this, considering how witty I am via text. 🙂

I think I’ll try to explain it more in the post. Even though it was Christian who made it- he sort of remembered how he did it. How’s that for helpful?!
