Just A Few Things About Lions

Since it’s Big Cats Week and all, we’ve been watching far too much footage of lions and tigers and ligers and cheetahs and such.

On Sunday, Christian, Annie and I watched a show about lions and here’s what we concluded:

lion cubs are painfully adorable and we caught Christian man-giggling once when they did something spectacularly cute.

Farmer is a lion.

Annie wants to hug a big lion at some point in her life, and we both agreed that would be a fine way to die.

Hyenas made a guest appearance, and they are vile, hateful creatures.

It disturbs us when so many flies land on lions’ faces.

Zebras are fucking gorgeous but why would they have evolved to look like flashy show-off know-it-alls?

Wildebeests are total tagger-on, zebra wannabes. Suck it up and migrate by yourselves or get out of the way of the pretty animals.

Gazelles are precious and dainty with those spindly legs of theirs. Plus I want to run as fast as one and surprise everybody on a fast train when I whiz past them.

Shows about lions last a long time and you need to take intermittent breaks to watch House Hunters International. And get ice cream.

The end.

It is one wild place out there isn't it? Nature shows are a good choice for family viewing as is House Hunters International. I put on Chimpanzee for the kids but it held my attention better than theirs. They are amazing!

Well, I'll be looking for a chimp post from you soon, then. We've been on a House Hunters bender lately. Or rather, and HGTV bender. I'm not sure what we were thinking when we gave up cable for a bit…

I love big cats but they scare me. Yes, my fear is totally irrational. Yes, I do not live in Africa. Or in a zoo.

Hah, sounds like an educational week. And why ARE the hyenas so vile?! No one likes them.
