Hello Mr. Rocketlegs

Creative people are constantly creating. Whether in the planning or making stages, they are pretty much always focused on a creative endeavor. Why? Don’t know. But I do know that making things is fun and good for the soul and more people should be making more things more of the time.

Christian is a truly creative person. He’s got a project going at all times, and sometimes what he chooses to focus on is really surprising. He’s the type that likes to figure out how to do something as he goes along, because he enjoys the process so much.

I’ve shared some of his stuff here before, but here’s a smattering of items he’s made over the past few years:

wooden car

This is one of a bunch of wooden car toys he made to sell on Etsy. He put a few up and soon is moving them over to his brand new Etsy shop, Mr. Rocketlegs.

For now, he’s listed a bunch of creepy baby head sculptures he made a few years ago. Here’s one:

Before the babies, he had stints with wooden purse-making,

and cherry furniture-making.

Lately he’s made….

wooden yahtzee game

wooden and leather-lined Yahtzee board!

wooden egg

I think I’ll make this a regular feature. It’s fun to show the work of creative people. My mind is still cloudy from being sick, so this seems like the most pathetically boring post in the universe. Hopefully Christian’s awesome stuff will make up for my lack of interestingness today.

Wow, that's some great stuff! And, I love the look on the lion's face, he seems equally impressed.

Mister Rocketlegs makes cool stuff! I like everything but the cement bowl is my favorite!!! I like Bex's addition, one time my daughter replaced some passwords I was saving on a desktop post-it with the words "I love Ann" (I know it was a bad place to save passwords). Feel better!

I am loving the car and the egg and the cherry furniture.

Whoa, that catalog shelf and the coffee table? WANT. Hmm, I think I might show them to Gregg (because I have zero carpentry skills and he has zillions and likes an excuse to buy new tools).

I'm a little jealous. I think of myself as a creative person as well, but I don't have any creative talent, and so I would never be able to make anything quite as sexy-photography-worthy (or clever-comment-from-the-dog-worthy) as these…

Very cool stuff – I dig the cement deer heads and the poured cement bowls. I'm not obsessed with cement things, I swear – they just speak to me for some reason today.

It's fun to see what everyone's favorites are. That's all I can think of to say. Except, I like purple.

I completely believe that you don't necessarily have to make beautifully finished objects to be a creative person. Creativity is in the brain.

So clever and creative. I admire him.

wow that is so impressive! I really liked the coffee table and the yahtzee board. And the cement bowl. And the wooden egg….
