Today (and tomorrow) are Arts Advocacy Day(s), and I’m really not sure why there’s no figure like Santa or the Easter Bunny who delivers art materials to all the good kids.
Nevertheless, it’s a day to reflect on the importance of the arts , and there are a few ways you can join in:
Tonight is The 26th Annual Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts and Public Policy featuring Yo-Yo Ma. Join me virtually to watch the lecture at 6:30 pm Eastern time with a big glass of wine.
Tomorrow is the Google+ hangout, at 10:30 am Eastern time, with Yo-Yo Ma, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer (formerly of Guns N’ Roses) Matt Sorum, former New York City Ballet principal dancer and Aspen Institute Arts Program Director Damian Woetzel, and Lisa Phillips, author of “The Artistic Edge: 7 Skills Children Need to Succeed in an Increasingly Right Brain World.”
Americans for the Arts will be collecting questions before the Hangout via Twitter and email. You can either Tweet to them using the #AskYoYo hashtag. Or, send an email to:firstname.lastname@example.org with #AskYoYo in the subject line.
Will you all tweet your little faces off about this? Use #AAD2013 in your tweets.
